7 Winter Must-Haves

As we say goodbye to the skies of blue and welcome the skies of grey for the official 2016 Winter season, it’s time to start packing away your Summer clothing. Dressing for work in Winter is can be a challenge;  one is torn between compromising health to look stylish, and sacrificing style to stay cozy but looking frumpy! Find your balance and look not only chic but totally stylish, without sacrificing warmth. This Winter, the 7 most versatile pieces are:

  1. Trench Coattrench coat

The trench coat is a staple for ladies and gents, and has been around since World War 1. It oozes military flair and is very stylish yet warm. Neutral colours, i.e. black, beige, cream, grey or white make it easier for you to mix and match with your clothes. If you want to stand out go for a bold color like red.

  1. Shift Dress

This is a staple piece as it is very comfortable, stylish and versatile. You can dress it up or down, and if the weather gets too cold, you can wear thick black stockings to beat the chill and still look prim and proper.

  1. Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is a unisex piece. Men can rock the leather jacket at work if they work in a semi-formal work environment or when they go out for a drink with the boys. Women can dress it up or down whether with jeans and grungy boots, a maxi dress or even a pencil skirt and a blouse. Aleather jacket is a timeless piece and it is definitely worth the investment.

  1. Boot

Boots are the most common footwear during this season, and whether they’re thigh high, ankle, flat, or high-heeled, these shoes are a must-have this season. Make sure that they are the right size and they are in a color that complements the items in your closet. This also includes gents; boots complete any Winter outfit with a fashion forward edge.

  1. Slacks

Choose slacks that are not too tight- remember, they are not jeggings or jeans! If you can see your panty line or your junk in the trunk is on show then opt for a size bigger. You wouldn’t want people staring at you or sending the wrong signals to the ‘hottie’ at work. If you prefer tight slacks, blazers and longer length blouses help keep your look work-appropriate.

  1. Blazer

A good blazer has the ability to make others take you seriously at work, hence the golden rule to wear a blazer to meetings. Always opt for good quality fabric and the right fit.

  1. Jeans

Many have casual Fridays at work, so it’s ideal to add jeans to your shopping list. Pick a colour that’s casual yet smart. Be careful with ripped jeans – though it’s Friday, you still have to look professional!

With these 7 items you are guaranteed to conquer the cold stylishly this Winter. Go forth, excel at work, get that promotion, and be not only warm and comfortable, but stylish and gorgeous too.
